Table Turnover Rate Calculator

Use one consistent service period for tables, guests, hours and revenue.

Default numbers are an example, not industry data.

Formula

Table turns = parties served ÷ tables; seat turnover = covers ÷ seats; RevPASH = revenue ÷ (seats × hours open).

How it works

Table turns count parties served per available table over a defined service period. Seat turnover uses guests divided by seats, so it can tell a different story when party sizes vary. Use the tables and seats actually available for that service.

For RevPASH, enter net revenue excluding VAT or sales tax and the same hours of availability used for seat capacity. Do not mix dinner covers with all-day revenue. Compare similar services and review seating flow or bottlenecks while preserving a suitable guest experience.

Worked example

60 parties ÷ 20 tables = 3.00 table turns. 160 covers ÷ 80 seats = 2.00 seat turns; 4,000 ÷ (80 × 5 hours) = 10.00 RevPASH.

Frequently asked questions

Are table turns and seat turns the same?

No. Table turns use parties and tables; seat turns use guests and seats. Different party sizes can produce different rates.

What does RevPASH measure?

Revenue per available seat-hour divides revenue by seats multiplied by hours open. It combines capacity, time and revenue in one measure.

How should I handle tables that were unavailable?

Use available capacity for the period consistently. If capacity changes substantially during service, separate the periods for a more useful comparison.
